Pennsylvania School Programs

Raptor Jawns loves bringing wildlife education to Pennsylvania schools, particularly in and around Philadelphia where we share our city with these incredible birds!

Raptor Jawns is fully licensed and insured - licenses and COI available on request.

Our programs can be tailored for any age group and any indoor or outdoor setting, and are complementary with lessons on conservation, ecology and natural history, food webs, predator / prey relationships, senses (sight and hearing especially), flight, evolutionary adaptations, local wildlife, and more!

Our programs also address key curriculum standards in Pennsylvania, including the following:

Keystone standards (in effect until 6/30/2025):

  • BIO.B.4.1.1 Describe the levels of ecological organization (i.e., organism, population, community, ecosystem, biome, and biosphere).

  • BIO.B.4.2.2 Describe biotic interactions in an ecosystem (e.g., competition, predation, symbiosis).

The STEELS standards (effective 7/1/2025):

  • 4th grade Life Science: 3.1.4.B  Use a model to describe that animals receive different types of information through their senses, process the information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways.

  • 6th – 8th Life Science: 3.1.6-8.K Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.

  • 9th – 12th Life Science: 3.1.9-12.M Evaluate the claims, evidence, and reasoning that the complex interactions in ecosystems maintain relatively consistent numbers and types of organisms in stable conditions, but changing conditions may result in a new ecosystem.

  • 9th – 12th Earth and Space: 3.4.9-12.E Plan and conduct an investigation utilizing environmental data about a local environmental issue.

Common Core Connection:

  • Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems: Animals, Plants and Their Environment

While photos of and next to the birds are welcome and encouraged, students are not able to touch or handle the birds at any time.
